A Letter From Our President

Dear Prospective Members & Families,

Welcome to our Alpha Omega website!

My name is Abby Hutchison, and I have the honour of serving as President of Alpha Omega for the 2025-2026 year. I hope this letter helps answer any questions you might have about our sorority and Greek Life here at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Alpha Omega is a local sorority founded in 1993 right here at Laurier. Our motto, Harmony Through Individuality, reflects who we are, a sisterhood built on acceptance, inclusivity, and the belief that our differences make us stronger.

Our members support one another in every aspect of life, both personally and academically, through roles such as our Resource & Support Chair, who provides study help and mental health resources throughout the year. Philanthropy is also a big part of who we are. Each year, we host Breakfast in Bloom, a brunch that raises funds for The Anselma House, a local women’s shelter supporting those affected by domestic violence.

I joined Alpha Omega in my second year, and I can confidently say that doing so changed my life. Before university, I never imagined myself getting involved in something like Greek Life, but this sisterhood has given me lifelong friendships, confidence, and leadership experience I’ll carry with me far beyond Laurier. Through Alpha Omega, I’ve learned to balance academics, manage responsibilities, and most importantly, support others.

I know that Greek Life can sometimes be misunderstood due to how it’s portrayed in movies or media, but Laurier’s Greek community is nothing like that. Every organization on campus values respect, service, and personal growth. Other organizations proudly support philanthropic causes like the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, local food banks, and much more.

Beyond the fun and tradition, Greek Life at Laurier is truly about community, leadership, and lifelong connection, with both active members and alumni who are always eager to offer career advice and support.

I can honestly say that joining Alpha Omega has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I love this sisterhood, I love our campus community, and I’m so proud to represent the amazing women who make it what it is. I hope that if your child chooses to rush, they find the same sense of belonging and love that I did.

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about Alpha Omega. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns , I’m always happy to chat!

Best wishes,

Abby Hutchison
