executive board 2019-2020
I am a third year student undertaking a double major in Environmental Studies and Archaeology here at Laurier. I have a love for traveling and experiencing as many different cultures and landscapes this beautiful world has to offer. This year I have been chosen to take on the role of President and I could not be more excited or honoured! Alpha Omega has provided me with a safe place where I can be myself and have fun with a great group of women! It is my goal, as a leader of this organization, to inspire my sisters to be confident, embrace their differences, and empower them to be their true selves. I am a strong believer that our differences make us stronger as a unit. Here’s to love, growth and sisterhood!
Hello I’m Emma and I am going into my third year of Laurier majoring in music. I rushed Alpha Omega in the fall semester of my first year and it is the best decision I have ever made. This year I have the honour and privilege of being Alpha Omega’s Vice President. I am responsible for monitoring the performance of the junior executives and executives and strengthening attendance at events and meetings. Alpha Omega has provided me with a safe space to be myself and allowed me to gain leadership opportunities within the sisterhood. I have made lifelong friends in many of my fellow sisters as they allow me to grow and encourage me to try new things. I am so excited for this year to be able to work alongside my sisters and to allow Alpha Omega to be the best it can be.
I am in my fourth and final year of the Business Administration program and am so looking forward to see what this final chapter brings. I joined alpha omega in the winter of my first year, and am very excited to be apart of the Executive team this year. As Recruitment Chair I get the opportunity to showcase my love for the Alpha Omega as a whole, and demonstrate what it truly means to be apart of such an incredible organization. Alpha Omega has influenced my life in more ways than one, and from it I have so many gained some of my best friends and memories that will last a life time. I am so excited to be on this journey and cannot wait to see what this year has in store!
I am currently in my third year of Sociology with minors in Education and Psychology. I have been a sister in Alpha Omega since my first year and I am so excited to continue my passion for this sorority as Pledge Educator. As Pledge Educator, I will be introducing the new members to our amazing sorority and all it has to offer! Alpha Omega has been a huge part of my university experience and has provided me with so many opportunities and forever friendships! We pride ourselves on Harmony Through Individuality where every woman is valued for their uniqueness! I am so excited to meet all of you and see what this year has to offer us!
I am a third year Christian Studies and Global Citizenship student with a minor in Religion and Culture. I spend my summers working at a summer camp and love all things Disney. I have been a part of Alpha Omega since my first year and the last two years have given me opportunities that I could have never imagined. I have realized that I am passionate about creating change in the world and have found the philanthropy work we do inspiring. I am excited to bring fun new ideas to the role of Philanthropy Chair and work with the sisters to create events that are exciting and inspiring to attend. We as sisters have so much to offer to our community and I hope that I can show everyone the impact we can make in our community. I cannot wait to see what this year brings as we all create change through our philanthropy work!
I am in my fourth year of Honours French with a minor in political science at Laurier and rushed Alpha Omega in the fall term of my second year. As the social chair, I get to plan all things social from siterschood socials, greek life mixers, formal, retreats and many more exciting events. Socials have been a place where I have met some of my best friends and have been able to make deep bonds with sisters. The sisterhood challenges me to try new things, meet new people and grow as a person. I have no regrets of rushing Alpha Omega and I cannot wait for more fun memories this year!
I am a third year Kinesiology student with a minor in Psychology here at Laurier. I have a burning passion to care for and explore the beautiful world around us (even on a student budget!). I have fallen in love with my newest home away from home with the help of my sisters. Choosing Wilfrid Laurier University was the best decision I have ever made, and joining Alpha Omega has played a huge role in that. Being given the opportunity to serve as Treasurer alongside the Executive Team has truly given me a great sense of belonging not just within the sisterhood itself, but also on campus. I knew I wanted to get involved, I just didn’t know how. I am very grateful for this opportunity and excited to see what this year has in store!
I am currently in my fourth & final year of my undergraduate studies, majoring in political science. I joined Alpha Omega in the fall of 2018; I was the Charity Representative of Pledge Class Alpha Kappa. As the 2019-2020 secretary my duties will include, but will not be limited to: meeting minutes, the collection, organization and storage of sister information, as well as the execution of elections. I’m so thankful for Alpha Omega and the many ways this sorority has enhanced my university experience. My only regret involving the sorority is that I didn’t pledge sooner!
Hey y’all my name is Amanda Toro and I am a third year global studies major. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to be this year’s ritual chair. As ritual chair I can be considered the sorority's official secret keeper which means I work on continuing our deep bond as a sisterhood and plan all our major rituals. I fell in love with Alpha Omega when I rushed my first semester at Laurier and haven’t looked back since. Being part of this amazing organization as helped me grow as an individual and during my time as ritual chair I hope to give back to my fellow sisters. When I’m not with my Alpha Omega sisters you can find me yelling at whatever sports game is on and drinking my body weight in coffee.
I am currently a third year Communication Studies major and am planning a career in Public Relations following graduation. I rushed Alpha Omega in the Fall of my second year and haven’t regretted a thing! Outside of the sisterhood you will probably catch me binge watching Netflix, doing makeup or obsessing over reality TV stars. As publications chair, it is my job to keep both active and alumnae sisters up to date on everything going on in the sorority. I’m also the one in charge of running all of our social pages and essentially acting as the publicist for Alpha Omega as a whole. Since joining last year, I have made so many friendships and met so many great people. I can’t wait to see what is in store for us this year!
I have recently graduated from Laurier's Honours Communication Studies program, with minors in Anthropology and Film Studies, and cannot leave my active sisters behind! It has been an emotional transition leaving my undergrad experience, but thankfully AΩ isn't just four years, it's for life! I am super excited to be returning for my fifth year as a member of the Executive Board as an alumna member. In this role, I get the opportunity to provide guidance to the executives and coordinate the Executive Training Retreat. As both part of the Alpha Omega Alumnae Association (AOAA) and the Active Executive Board, I act as a link between the active and alumnae members. Alpha Omega has consistently allowed me to grow and understand who I am through activities that encourage me to talk to inspiring people and try new things. The best part is the close bond you develop with so many wonderful sisters while making a positive impact in the community. Although I'll be completing a post grad at Seneca College in Public Relations, I cannot wait for more fun AΩ memories this year too!
